Our
current
students Sara
Pittman
and
Nicole-Anne
Kalogeropoulos
competed
in the
annual
A.B.A
competition
that
featured
their
skills
in
cutting
and
styling
Women's
hair
within
45
minutes.
Creative
color
techniques
were
applied
prior to
the
competition
and
was a
component of
the
judging
criteria. Four
teachers, the
school director,
and 4
students
were in
attendance
to
support
and
encourage
our
fellow
competitors.
This is
an
annual
event to
promote
trade
education,
and to
obtain
up to
date
information
in the
beauty
industry.
There
are
two competitions,
one
division
for new
talent
and
another
for new
professional
in the
trade.
We
attend
this
event
because
we feel
it is
important
to
maintain
contact
within
our
industry.
Our vision
is to
expose
our
students
to
various
trade
shows
and
experiences
to
enrich
their
education.
Our
center
annually
attends
the
International
Beauty
Show at
the
Jacob
Javitz
convention
center
in New
York.
This
allows
the
students
to
learn cutting
edge
technics
in
beauty,
hair,
skin and
nails...
from
outside
the
school
environment.
We also
subject
them to
experience
a
Broadway
show and
walk
through
the
metropolitan
Museum
of fine
arts
amongst
other
cultural
experiences.
“Taking
part in
the
"Consumer
Salon
Cut and
Style"
competition
at the
Montreal
A.B.A
was an
amazing
experience.
I am
truly
grateful
for all
the
support
my colleagues
and the staff
at GRBA
showed
me. I
never
could of
succeeded
in
winning
first
place
without
them.
It was
such an
incredible
opportunity
for me;
I got a
taste of
competition
life and
am
hooked!
I look
forward
to
participating
in many
more
events
like the
A.B.A
along
this new
chapter
in my
life's
journey.”
Sara Pittman 1st Winner
”Being
able to
participate
in the
A.B.A
this
year was
an
absolute
pleasure
and a
gift. I
never
would
have
imagined
that I
would
take
part in
any hair
competitions,
let
alone
the
A.B.A.
Being
surrounded
by
fellow
competitors,
salon
owners,
and
hairdressers
was
unbelievable.
I got a
small
glimpse
of what
my
future
could
look
like.
Without
the
support
of my
school,
teachers,
friends
and
family I
definitely
would
never
have had
the
confidence
to do
half of
the
things I
achieved
this
year.
They
allowed
me to
push
myself,
believe
in
myself
and have
confidence
in
myself.
For that
I am
grateful.“
