Pearson Transitions

Pearson Transitions is a unique service intended to connect students 16-18 years of age who want to explore career training. Our goal is to re-engage students at risk of dropping out of high school by providing support to schools, students, and families at critical points in their life path and stage of schooling.

Pearson Transitions was inspired by a strategic plan that focuses on ensuring that no young adult is left behind. Our goals are the following:

  • Help young people transition into the best fit post secondary educational setting
  • Promotion of trades and skill development programs
  • Reduce the number of students leaving school
  • Increase graduation rates among young people

In order to reach those goals, we offer young people the following support services:

  • Personalized advising (in-person, remote)
  • Social and emotional support and parent or family support and discussion
  • Act as liaison and advocate for students and families in finding appropriate educational pathways
  • Detailed information on trade programs at LBP Continuing Education
  • Connecting LBP Continuing Education support staff with younger students
