"On March 15th, 2016 I walked into Cartier for the very first time. I thought I was ready for this change, my big return to school. Life as I knew it needed to change and this is where I was ready to begin my rebound.
I fooled myself. I had a meltdown. I was overwhelmed. I was both mentally and physically exhausted. Despite all my adversity, I looked up into the mirror and told myself I can do this!
I picked myself up off the floor and headed back to school where I met some indescribable teachers and resource staff. They changed my life, my perceptions and my fears. It was a new horizon for me, they lifted me to a new level of confidence. I am proud to say that I now kick ass in math; please excuse my french. Speaking of french, I am now taking French level 5 and it is certainly a challenge. Mais c’est très excitant pour moi. Fortunately once again, I have the greatest support around me and I know that I will concur this obstacle.
Place Cartier has been a real blessing. I can honestly say that I see a brighter future ahead of me. I will be able to live a better life and have more opportunities for not only myself, but for my daughter and mother as well.
My goal is to obtain my high school diploma and I am so close I can taste it. Once I complete this french course, I have a few option credits to obtain and I am set! It’s go time and this player is already on the court. There is no substitute for hard work, never give up."
