The recognition of acquired competencies (RAC) process in vocational and technical training allows adults to obtain official recognition for competencies acquired on the job or through real-life experience in relation to a program of study. At the conclusion of the process candidates receive the official ministry of education diploma for the program.

At the Lester B Pearson School Board, RAC is offered for a large number of programs in English. Some of the most popular ones are:

  • Assistance In Healthcare Facilities
  • Homecare

  • Professional Cooking

If you have worked in or are interested in a program that you do not see listed here please feel free to contact us and we can help you explore your options.

Who is it for

RAC is a process that is available to anyone who has worked in a trade and would like to obtain their diploma or someone who has received training outside of Québec that is not currently recognized by the Ministry of Education.

Where is it available

The RAC process is offered at any of the vocational centers offering the program. All you need to do, is bring in an up-to-date resume and tell the admissions officer that you are interested in RAC. It’s that simple.
